AGD Subject Code: 561 – Information Technology/Computers (Practice Mgmt)

Description

Technology should make your practice run more smoothly, not add to the daily chaos! In this session, we cut through the noise and focus on three practical ways the right technology makes an oral surgery practice more efficient: centralizing your operations on a modern practice management system so your whole team works from one source of truth; connecting the tools around it so patient information flows automatically instead of being re-keyed from screen to screen. That keeps you open, reachable, and productive even when something goes wrong.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the core components of a modern practice technology ecosystem and explain how a cloud-based PMS serves as the central hub for a practice's daily operations.
  2. Describe practical strategies for integrating complementary technologies—such as imaging, patient communication, digital forms, and payment processing—around the PMS.
  3. Evaluate modern phone solutions (cloud-based / VoIP) and recognize the features that improve patient access, call handling, and staff efficiency in oral surgery practices.
  4. Assess the role of redundant internet connectivity and infrastructure resilience in minimizing downtime, and outline practical steps a practice can take to build appropriate redundancy.
