Over the next 13 years, he managed various areas of Disney’s theme parks and resorts, where he learned what it takes to run a world-class organization. Pete was blessed to spend a majority of his time working at the Disney University. While there, he led the Traditions program, which is known worldwide as one of the premiere employee orientation programs. He also facilitated college level courses to thousands of Disney College Interns, and was a Segment Learning Manager for Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and the Disney Cruise Line.

Pete is the Training and OD Manager for the Personnel Board of Jefferson County. James Almond is a Detective with the Leland Police Department in Leland, NC with over 22 years of experience conducting investigations at the local, state and Federal level. Detective Almond is currently assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a Task Force Officer in the Wilmington Resident Office in Wilmington, North Carolina. Prior to working for Leland Police, Detective Almond worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for over 20 years. During that time, he was assigned to the Vice and Narcotics Bureau for over 16 years. He was assigned to the Pharmaceutical Diversion Unit and the DEA’s Tactical Diversion Squad in the Charlotte District Office. Through this unique position, he focused on forged prescriptions, doctor shoppers, and health care diversion investigations involving Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Pharmacists with a DEA Registration number. Detective Almond was recognized as a drug expert in Federal Court in the Western District of North Carolina.

Detective Almond provided training related to Drug Diversion Investigations and Pharmacy Crimes on behalf of the DEA. He serves as a resource for various drug free coalitions, state licensing agencies, health care providers, pharmacies, and other law enforcement agencies.

Detective Almond is a member of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) and is the current Vice President of the Carolinas Chapter. Detective Almond holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate in North Carolina and has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

This course will provide the student with an understanding of the Controlled Substance Act as it applies to prescription medications and the practice of medicine. Attendees will learn what constitutes a legal prescription under the Code of Federal Regulations. Case examples of prescription drug crimes and their victims will be discussed. Participants will learn the corresponding responsibility that rests between a practitioner who prescribes a controlled substance and a pharmacist who dispenses the medication. Methods to protect a pharmacy and medical practice from common scams will also be discussed.

Allowing individuals a deeper understanding of how each work and the ability to better identify and attempt to infiltrate their network. In this course, the speaker will first begin by laying the foundation of cybersecurity, privacy, and the importance of protecting data. The second half of the course will demonstrate actual hacking techniques being used by cybercriminals today. Examples of phishing emails will be provided in order to indicate different points within an email that will allow the recipient to determine the legitimacy of the message. This course is designed to educate in a hands-on way allowing the participant to see and experience real examples of what they may encounter in the normal course of their workday.

• Define ransomware and phishing emails as well as understand how to identify a phishing email. Ransomware is one of the most prolific criminal business models today costing providers tens of thousands of dollars, lost data, and possibly weeks of downtime. Most importantly, however, it can be prevented, and the first step is understanding the risk, liabilities, and what we can do to protect our practice.
• Lead their team through the necessary steps to take in the event of a ransomware attack. Cybercriminals are smart and they are relentless. Millions of dollars are spent every year developing new ways to infiltrate, infect, and steal patient data. Even with the best-laid defenses, a ransomware attack can happen. It is critical to know how to respond and react quickly to minimize the damage and recover your data.
• Conduct themselves in a way that allows them to identify an internal threat. There is a common misconception that we must always be looking outside our practice for a cyber or ransomware threat. Unfortunately, a large percentage of threats exist within the walls of your office. The ability to know where these threats come from and how to combat them is vital.

Johnise Nuttycombe serves as Practice Administrator of Goodove Oral Surgery in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Diversely trained in areas of Media, Communications, and Interior Design, she created Johnise Custom Interiors in 1994; combining elegant creativity and business savvy. For 25 years she was a hands-on businesswoman and consulted with area builders, doctors, lawyers, and restaurants in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. She has been instrumental in the design / build efforts of the Goodove Oral Surgery organization, opening 4 new locations in the past 12 years. Her willingness to share and connect with others led her to create TLC, The Leadership Connection. Since 2014, this growing number of area Dental managers meets several times a year for dinner and conversation with subjects ranging from hiring, OSHA inspections, and stress management.

Christopher Litchfield

Christopher Litchfield is the CEO of Digimatiq Marketing. With over 15 years experience in the digital marketing industry, Christopher has helped build & develop strategy around thousands of digital marketing campaigns spanning a wide range of business categories. He is also the founder of Great Online Promotions, a custom promotional products e-commerce built from the ground up, and founding partner of Future Forward Ventures, a early-stage venture capital firm.

A graduate of Elon University’s Love School of Business, Christopher quickly built upon a successful career in e-commerce, search optimization and paid advertising at a time where the technology was just emerging and the marketing industry was beginning it’s shift to online advertising. JaNeal is a human resources professional with over 10+ years in corporate and higher education industries. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Consumer Studies from the University of Utah and an Associates’ degree from Salt Lake Community College. JaNeal has spent most of her career assisting others in recruiting for some of the most hard-to-fill positions, creating compensation programs, evaluating and writing policies and procedures and implementing training programs. She, along with her husband and four children enjoy adventure through outdoor recreation, stay-vacations (it’s really a thing) and supporting their children in extra-curricular activities.
