How to Choose the Right Phone Provider for Your OMS Practice

Ahhhh phone systems: the most enjoyable aspect of running an oral surgery practice! Sarcasm 😀. If you’ve ever been frustrated with your phone system or phone carrier, please raise your hand.

OK OK, EVERYBODY CALM DOWN!

In all seriousness, this part of managing your practice really doesn’t have to be stressful as long as you choose a provider that can deliver two critical things:

  1. flexible and capable technology and
  2. legitimate customer service, especially when you need it most. If you’re having a red alert issue (like your phones seem to be totally down), then you simply have to be able to reach someone who can help you.

Fortunately for you, our company, Liine, has worked closely with dozens of phone companies across the country. Our AI-based platform records and analyzes phone calls by directly integrating with an OMS office’s phone system. This means that we have, quite possibly, the most extensive experience with phone companies around the country. Think about it: we know exactly what their technology is capable of and we work directly with them on the integration, so we are certainly aware of their customer service prowess.

Before I share our favorite phone companies, it’s important to understand why all of them are VoIP providers. If you’re not familiar with VoIP, it means that your phone service is provided through your internet connection instead of copper phone wires. VoIP phone systems are far superior due to the flexibility they provide. It’s very easy to set up and adjust settings like phone trees, call routing/forwarding rules, etc. This is not the case with copper wire phone systems, which often require a technician to come out on-site for even a simple adjustment. If you have not already switched to a VoIP phone system, then IT’S ABOUT TIME that you did!

So here is the list of the best VoIP phone companies we’ve come across based on the combination of the technology and customer service:

1. Price Telecommunications

  • The best of both worlds: excellent customer service and should provide all of the technological capabilities that you need.
  • Also works with some of the largest groups in the OMS practice space so they can handle simple or complex setups.

2. 3Cx Business Communications

  • Similar to Price but less presence in the OMS space currently.
  • Might have slightly more technological capabilities, but you probably wouldn’t need the difference.

3. RingCentral

  • This is the largest company of these three. The benefit of that is they may have the most robust overall platform that will continue to evolve.
  • The downside is that the customer service just isn’t on the same level.

You can’t really go wrong with any of these three VoIP providers, but I encourage you to not only evaluate your practice telecommunication needs alongside call tracking and automation expectations, but also uptime and customer service performance. I’m happy to discuss more of what I’ve seen in the OMS telecommunications space if you are searching for a new solution.
