What is SOMSA Topicbox?

SOMSA Topicbox is the online community provided exclusively to members of the Society of OMS Administrators. SOMSA encourages all members to share successes and challenges, provide constructive feedback, bring questions, and provide prospective in all aspects of OMS practice administration. Participation in this listserv forum indicates agreement to the Forum Etiquette & Rules and The Legal Stuff below.

When you're ready to create an account and post, click the “Join Here” link below for the forums you’d like to participate and receive notifications about. We have created several topic-based forums and their join links are listed below, as well as the general forum.

We are making sure that the people who join are current SOMSA members, so be sure you have renewed and use your real name and email address you use with SOMSA. If you need help renewing, please reach out to Linden at linden@somsa.org or 417-319-1130.

Thank you for participating in the SOMSA online community. To ensure the best possible experience for all of our members, we have established these basic guidelines for participation. Several of these guidelines are included because this platform is both a forum and a listserv: you can interact with it completely via email, without visiting the website at all, or you can use the web or mobile app to read and post.

  1. Please try to remember to delete all other replies after yours. When you reply via email, all text you send will appear in your response, including any and all messages you are replying to. To avoid repetitive information and needlessly long posts, select all (CTRL+A) and delete before you begin typing.
  2. Search your topic by keyword before posting. If there is another thread on the topic, you might find the answer you’re looking for before posting. You will also find out who to reach out to directly. But most of all, we’ll avoid multiple threads on the same topic, and all information shared on certain topics will be in one place.
  3. Use a descriptive Subject when you begin a thread. The Subject of your email will be the title of the thread, in the web interface, in emails, and in the mobile app.
  4. No messages less than 3 words. Remember, every email you send to the forum will be emailed to anyone who has subscribed to the forum. If you want to say “Thanks!” be sure you add something substantive to the conversation. Otherwise, we all agree to understand that each of us is grateful for the help we’re providing.
  5. Be professional and be kind. We are all doing our best, but sometimes humor, sarcasm, and jokes do not land as we intended when presented in text like they do when we are face to face.
  6. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and will be removed.
  7. If you believe someone is violating any of our Forum Etiquette & Rules or general behavior expected from professionals, the best thing to do is forward the post to Linden or a board member and let us handle the situation.
